Single at Weddings

zombies wedding

I have been invited to many weddings, and I am still single.

Weddings are good, but when I see the bride and the groom getting married I wonder what groom’s men and bridesmaids do? Do they wait in line for the next couple to get married? I should wait in line too.

Why the does the groom have a best man? If the best man get’s the flu, does the best man steps up? What if the best man decides to bail. I should be there in line too.

The only weddings I like to attend is Indian wedding, not with the feathers on the head – no offense I respect all cultures. The Bollywood weddings are so joyful, very colorful, music, dancing, and the food are absolutely delicious.

America weddings are good too; if they have a theme, it would be better (sarcasm).  And memorable, that means people can talk about it over the years to come. Some themes include Michael Jackson’s songs people would dance to Michael Jackson “Thriller”. Or something spectacular. Create a memorable event. What does she like? And What does he loves? Combine the both. Find something that is in common to both ideas. A plain and simple wedding is good too but makes it into big production to entertain your guests.

If your wedding theme is outside, make sure it doesn’t rain – have everything inside.

I went to a wedding, where the wedding couple had their backs to the crowd, and they were facing the wall to cut the cake. Taking pictures was impossible. They could have it in the center of the room where the bride and the groom have the audience around them and easy to take pictures. The wedding could be better (sarcasm)

What’s the worst wedding themes? The worst could be great or even better it depends how big the production and the happy couple too. Make your wedding remember and memorable.

Ninetieth Oscars: The Shape of Ebbing Missouri

Jimmy K

Did you watch the Ninetieth Oscar on Sunday night? The big winner was Shape of Water winning four awards which include Best Picture, Director, Production Design and best score.

Jimmy Kimmel was the perfect host. Unfortunately, the ratings were down, not because of Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the correct best picture with big fonts on the card. Will they come back again for the third time? Who knows?

Jimmy Kimmel and his actor friends that included Armie Hammer, Mark Hamill, Lupita Nyong’o, Emily Blunt, Gal Gadot, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Margot Robbie left their seats in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday night to surprise the audience at the TCL Chinese Theatre, watching a preview of Wrinkle of Time coming out March 9, 2018, that was fun a surprise.

According to Deadline the highest ratings for the Oscars was back in 2014 when Ellen DeGeneres hosted. Will she do it again? Can she pull off surprise pranks as Jimmy Kimmel did?  Why do actors have to be hypocritical with the politics?

Sexual harassment is a big issue in the workplace and they waited for 10 to 20 years to tell?  And they ruin lives of other actors.

And women are not being recognized in the entertainment business. It’s a harsh world out there just to be recognized for what they do for a living. They sacrificed everything to tell a story just to be accepted. Even actors they worked so hard to study their craft of acting and end up with sexual harassment. It’s a tough job; nothing is easy these days. Actors have to be careful these days. It’s a new world out there.

Frances McDormand

Sam Rockwell

Big winners such as Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell for leading actress and actor for Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri, which was filmed in Sylvia, North Carolina. Frances McDormand lost her Oscar award, she put a billboard sign and got it back. Apparently, some craze fans wanted a prize too.

90th Academy Awards - Show, Los Angeles, USA - 04 Mar 2018

Kobey Bryant won for Best Animated Short Film for Dear Basketball with Glen Keane.

Jordan Peele

Jordan Peele won for Best Original Screenplay for Get Out.

Gary Oldman for best actor in the Darkest Hour the story of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. And it won for make-up too.

Here’s the list of the winners

If you like awards shows like I do, It’s fun to see our favorites to win. Maybe people tune out awards show because they do not want to hear actors talk about politics. Awards show needs to be fun and entertaining. More like a three-ring circus.

Will the Emmys be fun and entertaining?

Bulletproof Kids

Bookbags 1So, how do we stay safe in schools? Every day a student witnesses some kind of violence either it’s a fight or some commotion with a student and teacher. Does it get reported? Not to the public, but to the principal and the principal handle the disciplined action to the student.  For school shooting, that’s another problem, every day there’s a school shooting or an incident.  The school needs to have more drills, not just fire drills, but different scenarios of what could happen. You will never know it could happen to your school. The priority is the student safety not the performance of the school. If there are safe the performance of the school will be better.

In NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, a school in Southwestern High School in Indiana, the classroom doors are bullet-resistant, cameras are everywhere, and the Sheriff’s department — only 10 miles away — can track an intruder in real-time.  The school is high tech. They have smoke bombs to confuse the intruder. It looks like a scene from a movie, but it is real life. The teachers have a panic button to alert the police and the school administration. They also have an emergency call box to alert the police.

In the classroom, they have red tape on the floor of where to go.  The student topples the desk over and they used old thick books such as dictionaries to shield themselves from flying bullets. Or have a collection of old books to throw at an intruder. War and Peace the novel, put it to use.

Another solution is the whiteboard in the classroom if it is stuck to the wall just have a surfboard in the classroom. If the students are curious about the surfboard. Just tell them you like to go surfing, the students will tell you the beach is 500 miles away. They have lakes. The surfboard can stop a 9mm Glock.  The AR-15 a semi-automatic rifle, no chance for the surfboard.

You need a bulletproof shield that consists of 40 layers of compressed Dyneema, a strong synthetic fiber, giving them the bullet-stopping power of steel while weighing significantly less. The same material that is used to skis and snowboard, if you have these materials in your house, keep them they are useful. Hardwire produces bulletproof backpack inserts, whiteboards, and adhesive doors.

There’s a company called Elite Sterling Security LLC ( they provide body armor for grade school to high school and other body armor for adults too. It’s a USA based company in Denver, Colorado. Please check out their site.

Your Children Future

Do you want to prepare your children for the future? How do you do it? First, let your children be children, and let them grow. But when they go to high school it’s time to be serious. They have to be prepared for the S.A.T test and pick the right college or university to further their education. They have skills. Can their skills change the future? Could they be the next president without the scandals they have in the past?

How would they survive? That’s the parent’s problem. Parents have to teach and train their child to be better than themselves. Parents make mistakes too. But the parents must teach their child to be a better person and smarter.

In high school, they must learn science, technology, engineering, and mathematics or STEM; this applies to acting, business, and cooks.  And technology engineering companies. Engineering technology is a must and applies to everywhere, building computers, building the latest software and building much stuff to make our lives a better in the future. Movies influence us of what the future would look like. If we could make that in reality, it would be great. And they need a teen life too like going to prom and school activities.

What we have to do is to influence our children, it all starts with the parents. Teacher and professors are the resources and shape them to be a better person in the future. School and universities have laboratories and the latest technology they need to get ahead. Why blow up the garage and home, if it is insured.

Don’t start them late, or they end up in a garage forming a band that goes nowhere, or homeless.  They need a stable future and career.

It all starts at home and parents. Make that change.

Valentine’s Day Killing

Mann and Mcbane

It was in 1971, a young couple was found gagged, tortured and killed in the woods in Orange County, in Durham North Carolina.  Investigators said they have a person of interest and close to solve this unsolved case. None of the witnesses have claimed who would kill this couple and left them to die.

Jesse Mcbane, 19, of Pittsboro picked up his girlfriend, Patricia Mann, 20, a nursing student at Watts Hospital.  The couple was excitedly headed to a Valentine’s Dance at Watts Hospital in Durham.

Unfortunately, they were brutally murder.  They were discovered in a forest, off a one-track dirt road in Orange County. They were tied to a tree.  The injuries sustained were brutal. Their hands had been tied with thick ropes behind their backs to a tree, and ropes were stretched tight and knotted around their necks. They were strangled. Although still tied to the tree, their upper bodies had slumped over so that they laid side by side next to each other in the woods. Autopsy reports showed a half-inch tear in her liver, which could have been a fist blow to her stomach that could have killed her.

Rumors have been flying that the killer was in the area. He knew about the couple. Somewhere connected to the hospital.

Some people have claimed they have seen the couple ghost in the hospital but disappear in the walls of the dance hall in the Watts Hospital and music of the 1970’s would play. Having their last dance together.

But who would kill the young couple?

Winchester House of Mystery

©David Swann

In 1862, William Wirt Winchester and Sarah Lockwood Pardee were married, and they built a beautiful and massive house with 2000 doors, 47 stairways, 47 fireplaces, six kitchens, 10,000 windows and many bathrooms. Only to confuse the ghost and evil spirits, that enters the house and not able to find her. And it is a funhouse too; it had secret passages, stairs that go nowhere, and doors that open into walls and windows that open to rooms. So, if you need to go to the bathroom, you might end up with a brick wall.

In 1906 an earthquake damaged the house, the widow boarded up many of the rooms, and it’s believed that the new discovery might be one such chamber. Some of the rooms are being discovered today.

Pic 2

In 1886, Sarah bought the property and continued with the construction of the Winchester Mystery House, until her death in 1922.

They had one child together, Annie, who died just over a month after she was born. William’s father died in 1880 and William died in 1881, leaving Sarah as the heir to their $20 million rifle fortune. In 2018 dollars, that equates to more than $450 million.

There are various theories as to why she continued working on the house for so long, but one of the most popular involves her interest in spiritualism. According to one legend, Sarah believed that her daughter and husband’s untimely deaths were retribution for all the people killed by Winchester rifles, especially after a medium told her that her blood fortune was cursed. Espousers of this theory believe that she made the house so large so there would be room enough for all the souls of Winchester victims; she also switched bedrooms within the house so any alleged ghosts would have a more difficult time finding her.

Sarah’s mysterious motivations for building it aside, the house is objectively nuts. Sarah didn’t hire anyone architect to oversee construction and added rooms and features haphazardly, so there are lots of weird elements to the house – staircases that lead to nowhere, doors that lead to nowhere, and windows that look into other rooms. It was seven stories tall and had more than 200 rooms before parts of it were destroyed in the San Francisco earthquake of 1906; it is currently four stories tall and has 160 rooms. At one point, Sarah actually built over another room that she’d forgotten was there, and according to legend, she could not actually find the house’s original eight rooms.

If ghosts are a thing, then the Winchester Mystery House would be the place for them to set up shop. The house’s official website claims that staff and visitors have experienced “strange phenomena,” and according to one tour guide, an apparition named Clyde often appears in the basement near the coal chute. Ghost Adventures filmed an episode at the house in 2011 and had some creepy encounters, and Janan Boehme has shared a handful of stories with the Bay Area newspaper Mercury News. The staff has reported seeing a spectral handyman fixing the fireplace and hearing a woman sigh near one of the bedrooms.

The house is open to the public; if you are in the San Jose area, you can explore the property around $40. And it’s great for parties too. If my birthday cake is missing, I am not coming back.

Go see the movie coming out on February 2, 2018!

The Shape of Water leads with 13 nominations which include Directing, Best Picture, female leading role Sally Hawkins, male supporting role Richard Jenkins, female supporting Octavia Spencer, original score, original screenplay, cinematography, costumes designs, sound editing, sound mixing, film editing and production design. It may win a few, but we have to wait and see. The Shape of Water

Ladybird is an interesting movie, and it’s a dark comedy about a teenager who’s nickname is Lady Bird, and no she’s not a ladybird. Or a bird, but a teenager. Laura Marano from the Disney’s Austin and Ally stars in the Oscar Nominated film.  Saoirse Ronan is an interesting and fascinating actor you may recognize her from Hanna (2011) and The Lovely Bones (2009). Since Ladybird won the Globes for the lead actress, it did not win for best director by Greta Gerwig. However, she is nominated for the Oscar which is better. Watch the review Lady Bird

Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri. After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter’s murder case, Mildred Hayes makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby, the town’s revered chief of police. When his second-in-command, Officer Dixon — an immature mother’s boy with a penchant for violence — gets involved, the battle is only exacerbated. If you go to Ebbing Missouri and find out there’s no Ebbing Missouri then you are lost.  Ebbing Missouri does not exist, but they did film it in Asheville, NC and near the mountains. Road trip.
