All in the Family and The Jefferson LIVE

Live in front of the audience was LIVE, but when Jamie Foxx, Oscar winner, acting as George Jefferson in the All in The Family, even his co-star Anthony Anderson and the rest of the cast either giggle or laugh, flubbed his lines. Jamie Foxx handles it like a professional. Woody, who played Archie Bunker, could not control his laughter, he turned around to hide his laughter, that’s what happened when you do live performance in front of millions of people either with the studio audience and TV audience. There was another one when George walks on Bently’s back the boom mic appears in the frame.

The only actors who were believable were Marisa Tomei, Wanda Sykes, and Jamie Foxx.  Other actors Ellie Kemper, Ike Barninholtz, Anthony Anderson, Marisa Tomei, Wanda Sykes, Mara Gibbs, Jennifer Hudson, Will Ferrell, Amber Steven West, Stephen Tobolosky, Sean Hayes, Jackee Harry, and Kerry Washington. They did a tremendous job in performing their roles. if this show gets an Emmy Nomination, these actors deserve it.

Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei sang the opening song “Those were the days” it was perfect. The episode they did was “Henry’s Farewell”, which aired in October 1973. In which they meet the Jefferson at the party say farewell to Henry Jefferson, George’s brother

The script was written by Norman Lear himself, a fantastic comedy writer.  If people wanted to be a scriptwriter for television, they should learn from the best from Norman Lear writings and his shows.

The name mention in conversation was Shirley Chisholm,  Democratic in 1968 she became the first black woman elected to the United State Congress. In 1972, she became the first black candidate for a major party’s nomination for President of the United States, and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.

In The Jefferson pilot, “A friend in Need,” premiere in January 1975, George demands that Louise hire a maid. However, the couple ends up hiring a sassy maid.

In the LIVE version show in 2019  and the IMDB mention someone else, which was a decoy. We did not know who will play the maid until Marla Gibbs appeared in the doorway of the Jefferson apartment. She was the original maid in the series. The studio audience and the TV audience was surprised to see, and she still knew her lines, and she did not flub her lines at all, she was a fantastic performer.

In the original show in the 1970s family hour was considered to be the 8 pm hour, Norman Lear and the executives pushed the FCC to show the program around the 8 pm slot, not 9 pm or later, of course, there were lawsuits back in those days, and so Norman won the case. The N-word was used on the show, live in front of the studio audience and the TV audience that shocked America, and it made news back in the 1970’s.

The point of these two iconic shows tells the relationship between black and white and how they were treated differently and the language they used back in the 1970s. We could learn a lot about the relationship back then, today too much chaos. They are still showing the classic of All in the Family and The Jefferson on syndication.

There are few shows, such as The Goldbergs on ABC they used foul language too, but it is bleeped out, which is considered to be in the story content.

The same thing with Norman Lear shows on the story content and how it was used on the air. Especially during a family hour at the 8 pm slot.

If you missed the episode either catch it on demand or they may repeat it, during the Memorial Day weekend.

America Got Talent: Call Backs 2

Puddles the Ckown

For the second week, 20 acts will perform, and 7 will move on, that leaves 13 acts to leave the competition, but will leave with their dignity that they made it through this round. They should do the same thing when American Idol comes back in the Spring of 2018. They should have new rules of how to select the best talent.

One example would be Jokgu the piano playing chicken gave the crowd a huge response when he auditions for the first time. However, when it was time for the callbacks for a second-time audition and played with another chicken. Both chickens got stage fright and one poop out an egg, I guess they were out. And I had fried chicken for supper.

For the guest judge, they brought recording artist DJ Khaled to help identify real talent for the evening.

It was no surprised that Khaled had a soft spot for one of the singers, they were other singers who were also great, but he had to pick one of the acts. I think they should change the golden buzzer rules watch all the acts first and then pick one to go to the live shows. Evidently, Khaled chooses Chase Goehring. He was trying to push the button again for Evie Clair, but it did not work, only act for each week, bummer.

Evie Clair 1

One of my favorites was Puddles Pity Party the Clown, Simon worst nightmare but this clown was special, the clown can sing. Sad clown with a fantastic voice. If this clown was on The Voice, the judges would not know who it is.  He sang a Celine Dion power ballad “All By Myself” to a huge ovation from the crowd and the judges. I bet the clown will be in the Top 5.

In the end, the judges had to choose which acts will go through the next round. I like this version of American Got Talent when the acts have to perform again for the audience and a guest judge. And the guest judge has to choose one of the acts to go through.

In this round, seven acts are saved, and they are Chase Goehring, Puddles the Sad Clown, Mirror Image, Junior and Emily, Colin Cloud, Yoli Mayor and Evie Clair.

Last week, they had Chris Hardwick, comedian and the host of The Wall a game show on NBC, gave his Golden Buzzer to 9-year-old singer Angelica Hale.

Advancing to the next round along with The Masqueraders, Sara and Hero, Singing Donald Trump, (My Favorite – don’t ask me he’s entertaining), Just Jerk, Demian Aditya, and Eric Jones

They’ll all perform at the Dolby Theater in the live rounds.

Who are your favorites?

Be sure to tune in every  Tuesday Night at 8 pm on NBC! Tuesday Night is Family Night!

Summer TV of 2015

So what are you going to watch this summer? Do remember last time when Direct TV and Dish TV and other cable and satellite decided to block certain channels during the summer months? Do you know why? Most people weren’t watching TV during the summer and they have to pay a lot of fees to stay on the air and make program changes to catch your attention. Including local channels when various talk show have the summer off and they show summer reruns. Sometime they would come back in the middle summer and go back to work to broadcast new information and new shows to watch.

Take a chance to catch some of the new shows coming in the Summer of 2015. Here’s the calendar of events for TV viewing this summer.

Peter Pan LIVE

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Peter Pan Live was extraordinary to watch. A Broadway play on TV, using commercial breaks for set changes or for the actors to get ready to do the next scenes as the stage managers rush the actors to be on time and not to mess up their lines. It was great to watch a famous play live on NBC.  The ratings were down from last year when The Sound of Music Live premiere on NBC year ago.

Allison Williams, actress, comedian, and musician. She stars as Marnie Michaels on the HBO comedy-drama series Girls. I love this show. It’s a guy thing. She’s get naked in some scenes, but I like it. And it’s funny. She did a fantastic job as Peter Pan. My question is? Why is Peter Pan a woman? Should Peter Pan be a man?  The name Peter is a man’s name. Jack Noseworthy (Peter in Jerome Robbins’ Broadway): He was the only to do it on Broadway, but he was an understudy. He was a singer, and a dancer and he looked like a boy when he got the role.

Why the ratings went down? Maybe people did not like the casting part of the Peter Pan? Do the people want Carrie Underwood back and make her to a boy? All actors have to audition for a part, she wasn’t given the part.  They probably did have male actors as Peter Pan when auditioning for the part. So they decided to pick Allison Williams and asked her “How do feel if we cut your hair and trim it to make you look like a boy?”

“What about my breast?” Allison Williams asked.

“Duct tape?” the casting agent said.

“Ok” Allison Williams said.

Did Christopher Walken messed up his lines? He probably saw his image as Captain Hook on the TV monitors. Nothing happen to the set. No mistakes. I guess. Probably the actors did messed up the lines and did not notices, but quickly got the lines right. Only one picked out when analyzing the live broadcast on my DVR of the movie. When Peter comes in through the window and the camera pans to the adult Wendy, the Steadicam operator and camera can be seen.

John Allyn and Jake Lucas are casts as brothers. Alanna Saunders played Tiger Lilly.

What will NBC produce next?

The winner of Reality Talent Shows

These are my favorite shows to watch, the variety of talent shows on TV, seeing unknown people making it big and becoming a celebrity. To become one, one must work hard and become successful. Never let people bring you down, stay with positive people. The key for being successful is work hard, a dedication of commitment that you want to do. Surpass what the bullies told you that you will never make it, or the boyfriend/girlfriend did not get from you and now they want you back. Don’t! Stay in the present and move forward with your life. Become like Taylor Swift, use your past experiences and turn them into stories or songs, get it out from your chest, the burden and the pain. The real friends are your talent. Become what you want to do. Here are the winners for this week.

MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY, MERYL DAVIS

For Dancing with the Stars was Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Meryl Davis also won the Gold during the winter Olympics in Sochi, with her partner Charlie White.

Josh Kaughman The Voice

For The Voice was Josh Kaufman, he’s a R&B singer and from Team Usher.

Caleb Johnson 5 22 2014

For American Idol was Caleb Johnson from Asheville, NC. Another Carolina had won before too, which was good. This is the original show that started the reality talent shows and discovered new stars, a pioneer produced by Simon Cowell, in which the X-factor was cancelled due to low ratings, who won last time and record sales of the albums.

This talent shows the struggle and the transformation of being a celebrity and the sacrifice they become one.

I wish I can be one of them.
