An Eagle Without His Head

When I graduated from High School, I did something unusually and probably students in my class may not remember it at all. It happened 31 years ago, here’s the story:

Our mascot was the eagle. Not the real Eagle.  No did I not. People have dirty minds.

Oh well, it was the costume. No one knew I was in the Eagle Costume. I did not steal it, but I borrowed it. It was laying around in the girl’s locker room. Luckily, the girls were outside cheering for the basketball game.  It was my first time in a girl’s locker room. I did not see anything. But the shower was running. No, I did not peek. Maybe a little. I was curiosity. So, I saw it. Whew. It was big and cute. Not that big, cute, and petite.  She was our high school homecoming queen, Stacy Class; every guy wanted her. And I was the cute dorky student that no one knew. I had a picture of her in my locker. Her locker was next to mine.

I put on the costume; the costume needed to be dry clean. How could Stacy wear this costume?  I saw some air freshener nearby. I think it was air-freshener, it read “Michael Jackson’s perfume.” So, if I spray it, will it make me dance like Michael Jackson? Let’s see what happened.

I sprayed it, and the odor of the costume did not help. I grabbed a cloth, I think it was a cloth, but it will do. It was someone bra. Smell good. So, I used it as a gas mask for I could breathe fresh air and I was good. I put the head of the Eagle on, and I got the panty hose for the Eagle’s legs.

And I walked out; people were cheering for me because I was underneath the Eagle costume. I did the moon walk like Michael Jackson would do, and the audience went wild with it. Maybe the Michael Jackson perfume did work on me.

Then I heard Stacy voice from the girl’s locker room.

“Who are you? I am coming for you” Stacy said.

I turned my beak around, and I saw Stacy staring at me.

Would you believe she was wearing a cheerleader outfit without no bra and wet hair? She charged at me.  I ran around the court, and she was chasing me.  The audience was laughing and cheering for either of us.

Then I tripped, and she landed on top of my back. She flipped me over and took off my mask, and she found her bra on my face. She took that off too.

“What are you doing?” Stacy said. She was on top of me.

“I got laid?” I said, smiling. I was on the ground.

The crowd laugh. She was embarrassed.

It was hysterical.

Mom the Friendly the Ghost

It’s been over a month since my mom passed away. She died of the complications of ulcers wounds on her elbows and feet and she couldn’t walk. When she came home from the hospital, she couldn’t get up. She was gasping for air and food. I wanted to give her food, but I couldn’t do it. If she had ate, she would not swallow, it will choke her.

My dad and I would take care of her every morning. Giving her a shower every Sunday and weekdays I would give her a sponge bath. I would talk to her and entertain her, to make her smile. I would give her daily exercise and change her bandages on feet, which it had ulcers wound.

After the super bowl 50, she had gotten worsen; she had respiratory problems and trouble breathing. Broncos won over the Carolina Panther.

My dad and I would visit her grave and we would say a prayer for her and talk to her. We would tell her that we are good and strong and we can take care of ourselves.

We are not depressed in any way that is what other people would think. My mom is at peace and healed; and in a better place.

I know she can see us at the grave and at home.

If you have seen ghost hunters and ghost adventures on TV and they really explained what types of ghost we have, it’s a like an education and a understanding of ghosts. Ghost can be seen as ghost or orbs. For the shows, they would pick up negative feelings or bad ghost. Other times they would pick up positive feelings and tell us their history.

I know my mom is in the house. I would feel her because the hair on my skin would stand up, some kind of energy and she is nearby. I would see orbs flying the house, when I go to a certain room and the temperature would drop. Even a white mist, maybe she is trying to manifest in front of us? Mom is in the house. Does this happened to you?

She is either walking around the house or watching us sleeping. This is a good thing, I know she missed us and we missed her too. We love her very much. She is watching us.

Do you feel a love one presence around you?

Visit To The Grave

When I saw the coffin above ground, I knew she wanted to be in the ground, because the night of the visitation, people did not want to sit down. They wanted to remember her and talk about the good things about her and me (her son). I took care of her, because I was her home care nurse at home.

Did I see my mom boogie down with the disco lights above? Funeral music.

It was more like a reunion, some of my friends heard the news that my mom passed away through Facebook and newspaper, it’s the only way to communicate with friends. I read the news on Facebook too.

When people started to talk to other people, I could feel my mom close to me – her presence. The hair of skin would stand up and the temperature around me would be cold, even through my jacket when the room was warm. She was there, with me, when I moved she would move too. She was standing next to me.

At the gravesite, people were gathering around to say their final good byes. My dad read a beautiful prayer to her from the book Purnanga Namaz Shiskha: Complete Lesson on Namaz. It was a beautiful prayer. Making my mom to go to heaven. I know my mom enjoyed the prayer. She was close to me again. Why am I feeling her presence? How come my dad doesn’t feel her presence? I like her presence around me. Maybe there was too many people in the group and she wanted to stay close to me. I like her presence. Stay with me.

Museum of the Albemarle Haunted with Fred Fearing

Did you know that Museum of the Albemarle is haunted? With all the artifacts in buildings some spirits can attached themselves to it, but it’s the good ghost not the evil one, if you disturb the ghost, they will become evil ghost and they will be a sword fight in the middle of the room, that would never happened.

Anyway, when Fred Fearing was still alive, he was 93 when he passed away in 2007, he made a point that he would take care of the museum; they did not need a security guard. He would be a security ghost for the building, so if a burglary wants to rob a piece of artifact in building, Fred would stop them scare the living day lights  by saying “Boo” and the robbery would dropped  the artifact  and he would catch it without breaking it.

These days, if you ask the folks at Museum of the Albemarle, he’s also known as the hall of history’s resident ghost.

According to Pendergraft, Anne Burgess Jennings was working the front desk of the museum when a visitor asked directions to the bathroom. She was an out-of-towner, so she knew very little, if anything, about the local history here.

“She comes back five minutes later with a startled look,” says Pendergraft. “She told Anne that she met a man in the back hallway.”

The man was described as old with very white hair. The woman told Jennings that he had shared stories about the museum with her.

Pendergraft says the woman described the man’s baseball cap and a rose he was holding. He wore a shirt and shorts and talked about his wife Florence, and then he put his hat to his chest and told her local stories.

When the man was finished, the woman reported that he turned and walked away, disappearing at the end of the hall.

The woman, Pendergraft explains, did not know Fred Fearing, nor would she have known those details. Jennings, he says, told her that she had just described Fearing.

“The woman that was in the hallway seemed to be the only one who saw it,” recalls Jennings. “There were other people in the area. I was at the desk and there may have been someone else in the lobby.”

People that knew Fearing know that he loved history and was a big supporter of the museum. He served on the museum board and Pendergraft says Fearing would often bring things in to share with the staff.

He would also be the first to complain if he saw something that he did not believe was historically accurate. Fred Fearing was known to be ornery from time to time.

“He loved the museum. He was one of the biggest supporters of the museum, even to the last of his life,” says Pendergraft.

Although the museum building is relatively new, there have been other haunting reports there. Staff members are quick to say they’ve heard things, or even seen a thing or two.

Mary Tirak works on the third floor, in the administration offices. She says there have been plenty of reports but she hasn’t seen or heard anything. If she does, however, she says that she would be pretty unsettled.

“They all know I don’t like ghosts,” says Tirak. Jennings says the museum has been “spooky” in the past, but she just can’t put her finger on one incident outside of the Fred Fearing sighting. Of course, with a building full of old things, there’s no telling who came with the artifacts.

“There was one incident,” Pendergraft  said “The staff had put on a presentation for their annual membership meeting when archeologist Clay Swindell reported something odd. The room had emptied out except for Swindell and I and Clay saw a guy walk behind the screen,” recalls Pendergraft, who says he saw no one other than Swindell. “Clay was sure someone walked behind the screen. Being a scientist, he doesn’t make up stories. If he’s having fun with you, you know he’s having fun” Like a regular Casper the friendly ghost.

UFO sighting in Elizabeth City North Carolina

In August 1978, in Elizabeth City, NC many people in the Pasquotank county have spotted an UFO. Reports were coming from Poplar Branch, Nags Head, Nixonton, and other areas too.

L. Warrens Riggs, a probation officer for Camden and Pasquotank counties, said with two others friends saw a UFO in the community of Riddle in Camden. Riggs said Edward S. Cahoon and Elvin Gregory spotted a round, saucer – shaped object approximated 1,500 feet of the ground. The object had orange-colored lights spaced 2 feet apart. Riggs said two of the lights had a greenish tint and there was a two bright lights on top of the space craft. “All of the sudden it was coming towards us and then it stopped.” Riggs said, “It stayed for two minutes and we did not hear any noise.” Riggs said the UFO moved with great speed two miles toward the Pasquotank river, stopped for a few moments and then it continues on it course. He said he told nobody of the sighting except his wife, until he read a Sunday newspaper report. He then Colon Grandy Jr., who first reported the UFO sighting Thursday night to the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station. Grandy described the object as disc-shaped about 75 yards in diameter and having 12-15 brilliant evenly-spaced orange light around its sides. He said he spotted the object after leaving a workshop at the rear of his home in Poplar beach.

Dr. S.A. Khan, professor of Biology at Elizabeth City State University said he and his wife and family sighted an object around 8:30 p.m. Thursday while visiting at a farm house renovating on Four Forks Road. Khan said the object had six oranges – blue lights that flashed on and off. He said the UFO was approximately one-half mile from their location and moved swiftly at an altitude of about 300-400 feet.

Grandy said today that he had receive at least a dozen calls from people as far away as Nags Head, saying that they had also seen similar objects on the same day and at similar times. A spoke man for the National Weather Service said it was “very unlikely” that one of its balloons could have been in the Poplar Brand area at the of the sighting. However, the Federal Aviation Administration is virtually impossible to determine if there was any airplane activity in the area at the time.

A Coast Guard spoke man indicated that the base in Elizabeth City had dispatched no aircraft at the sighting times Thursday night. The Center for UFO studies in Evanston, Ill., said that it would probably investigation of the UFO sightings in a few days. The center is headed by Dr. J Allen Hyneck, scientific director, who worked as a civilian consulted for US Air Force Project Bluebook.
