Golden Globes 2017

jimmy-fallon

It was a great opening number, Jimmy Fallon had the cast of La La land stuck in traffic on the red carpet going to the Golden Globes, in which it wasn’t that far away.

He had Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Rami Malick. The cast of Stranger Things from Netflix sci-fi series Stranger Things were the scene-stealers: Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) unleashed a visceral rap, backed by her kid cast mates, and Shannon Purser (Barb) arose from a pool to prove she’s “still alive.” If you haven’t seen it, you are missing it.

The tone shifted when Fallon hit the piano to perform “Room Full of Stars,” a parody of the melancholy La La Land tune “City of Stars,” that featured guest spots from Tina Fey and Justin Timberlake.

It looked like Jimmy Fallon wasn’t prepared when his teleprompter malfunctioned seconds before his monolog. He’s a comedian he should have memorized his speech before relying on the teleprompter.  He did his impressions of Chris Rock to kill time until it was working. True professional comedian at work.

meryl-streep

Meryl Streep received The Cecil B. DeMille Award for being a critic acclaimed actress. She won eight Golden Globes, three Oscars, and two Emmys, other times she was nominated but did not win.  She’s America’s sweet heart and everybody likes her.  She won Oscars for Kramer vs. Kramer (1980), Sophie’s Choice (1982), and The Iron Lady (2011).

Her speech was powerful and political; and she took a stand against actors who immigrant to the United States before this ever happened, actors such as Ryan Gosling from Canada, Ruth Negga from Ireland (by way of Ethiopia) and others. I hope she get’s facts straight.

Streep used her speech to highlight the importance to American culture of outsiders and foreigners, whom she said were among the “most vilified segments in American society right now.” She said. “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts,” Streep said to huge applause from the room.

ronda-rousey-2

Does Mixed Martial Arts have the word arts at the end of the phrase? I see it, but does she? She should do a biopic about Ronda Rousey.

She even got a tribute to her friend Carrie Fisher, she had worked with her in Post Cards from the Edge (1990), at the end, she said “As my friend, the dear departed Princess Leia said to me, ‘Take your broken heart and turn it into art.’” Preach, Meryl.

Medals taste gooood

biting medals

Do you why Olympics athletes bite their medals? Not because it is made out of chocolate or get a chipped tooth – that will be a huge bill on their dentist bill, but they could pay it off with the earnings that they made with their medals they won. The athletes do get paid for their performances.

In 1912, the gold medals were solid gold, so gold was a soft metal and when you bite into it, it will leave a bite mark on the medal.  It was way for the athletes to know it was real gold and the dentist bill that came along with.

It was a tradition for a long time; most athletes do not know why they are biting their medals and the photographers ask them to take a picture biting their medals.

America’s Got Talent: Live Results

Judges

You have seen the show right? Or have you been watching the Democratic National Convention? Guess who won the ratings on Tuesday night? America’s Got Talent!  The speeches were good on the Democratic National Convention, but it needed some talent. Maybe the presidential candidates may have some good talent.

If you missed it, it was a great show. Don’t missed it all for the next few weeks. Where else can you see great talent around the United States? Maybe President Obama may audition when he leaves the white house next year? Who knows?

America's Got Talent - Season 11
Dorothy Williams. She’s a star !!

We have to say good-bye to Dorothy Williams, at least she made it to Hollywood and performed at the Dolby Auditorium. She was fantastic and it was her dream and she will live on YouTube.

The other acts went home are Outlawz, Daniel Joyner, Sila Sveta, and Hara.

Be sure to watch next week of America’s Got Talent on NBC.

America’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell Comforts Teen Rapper.

AGT judges

I have been watching America’s Got Talent because it is must see TV this summer on NBC, if you are not watching it, then you are missing it. So watch America’s Got Talent before it goes on break during the Summer Olympics on August 5.

They have all variety of acts, from singers, freak show, magic acts, comedians and danger acts.

Simon Cowell is back and judging the acts, along with Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel. Nick Cannon is the host.

Simon Cowell is the most recognized judge on the British TV competition series Pop Idol, The X Factor, and Britain’s Got Talent, and the American TV talent competition shows American Idol, The X Factor, and America’s Got Talent. Cowell owns the television production and music publishing house Syco.

He knows how to find great talent, he wants to see personality, what they can do and challenge themselves to take a risk.

If you are watching any of the shows, you will see how each contestants up their game to be better in the show. In other words, impress them again, of what they can do and win the competition.

This is the real world, you have to impress people of what you can do and do it again. If you think, you are a better singer. Then sing, if they tell you sound is not ready it, then looked at the previous winners and see how they do it. They worked hard on their craft, they started young, which is good, and they had professional help to better at their game. And they perform locally in their community area to get a chance of fame. In other words, getting experience, like a job.

Here are the highlights and the top acts that they are going to the live shows.

Sofie Dawson 1

sofie-dossi

The evening’s big winner was 14 year-old contortionist Sofie Dossi, who earned a golden buzzer from guest judge Reba McEntyre.

Vello

Along with Kadie was another contortionist by the name of Vello Vaher, he walked with his hands and hang from his teeth.

Magic Kids

The brother and sister magician act of Kaden Rocket. Few weeks ago, he cut his sister in half. Then again, he pulled out gorgeous women from a suitcase. I wonder how he made it from the TSA agents from the airport.

JUlia

Transgender comic Julia Scotti, was funny. Her act was observation humor and poking fun of herself.  Someone please put her on a Nickelodeon show if she doesn’t make it through.

Deadly-Games

Knife throwing daredevils Deadly Games.

Adamgrabowski

The other comic, Adam Grabowski didn’t go as plan.  He should have kept it clean. He got an X for the evening. His set was women and ice cream and how they were aroused by it.  Not funny and portion of it was edit out. He should have kept it clean.  He was booed off with crickets sound.

“While I am disappointed with the way my act was cut, I am thankful to AGT for the experience. The thing to keep in mind about any form of reality TV is: editing.”

Steven Drugane Rubki Cubes

Steven Brundage, the Rubik cube magic did not go through to the next round. Why? They showed him doing a Rubik Cube magic trick to get out from a speeding ticket. Maybe it was years ago when it happens, but he is clean now and wanted to pursue in magic with a Rubik cube in the future.  He’s good in what he is doing. Stop digging up contestants past lives. They want to change their lives and look at him now. He’s getting calls to perform magic with a Rubik cubes all over the United States.

Skylar
Skylar

Kadie
Kadie Lynn

The Final came to two performers Skylar whose musical influences are Biggie Small and Tupac and 12 year country singer Kadie Lynn.

Cowell approached the heartbroken girl as she left the stage, telling her, “I’m sorry.  I don’t want you to think for one second that you did anything wrong because you didn’t.”

Backstage, Skylar ran into her parents’ arms for comfort. “I am disappointed, but I am going to keep going,” she said.  That’s the positive attitude you have to do.

Another seven will advance.

“America’s Got Talent” airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on NBC.

I have been watching America’s Got talent in the matter of weeks. They were some good and some bad. Some good ones were sent home because they are lacking charisma, stage fright and nerves. It’s American Got Talent and they have to perform in big crowds of people either to be recognized, and have people to vote for you to keep you in the competition. And do new material or performance every week to show that they got talent. America people have to vote to keep your favorites in the running, to be the next America Got Talent winner.

Here’s what happened or what you missed:

OMI opened with “Cheerleader” great song and performance; we need cheerleaders for these contestants to be good in their performance.

The Bottom 3 was Alondra, Samantha and The Gentlemen. Their chance to win tonight are in the faith of the instant save with Dunkin’ Donuts save with Dunkin Donuts. So people drop your donut and vote for one of the acts. Then go back, and eat your donuts.

Judges misbehaving badly, Heidi Klum the beautiful model was humming loudly to “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” catchy song. Don’t sing.

Nick summons Piff the Magic Dragon and Triple Threat. Piff the Magic Dragon, more magic and comedy; make it entertaining like you do when performing live at Las Vegas. I have seen his act on magician shows on TV. He’s good. If he does it, he will get votes. He was saved. Triple Threat wasn’t a Triple Threat.

Vita Radionova, contortionist and Benton Blount, singer were both great in performance. Benton Blount wins this round. For Vita, bending backwards did not bend it forward with the audience.

Matt Franco who won last year in 2014 on AGT seasons. He did some great magic. He was great. Piff take notes.

Next up was Siro-A, dancers, and Craig and Micheline, strength and dancers. Siro-A, they are incredible performance. What they going to do next week? I hope it is incredible to watch it. Siro-A were safe.

Next up was Drew Lynch, the stuttering comedian, Paul Zerdin, ventriloquist comic and Show Project male dancers. First Paul wins and then Drew Lynch.

The tension awaits after people voted one of the acts for the child acts. Alondra, Samantha and the Gentlemen, a long wait, too much wait time.

For the dunkins donuts save, it was Samantha. She was relief. Now Heidi can sing. Don’t.

Then down to two acts: Alondra and the Gentlemen. Sometime judges like to take their time to congratulate the children, that they made this far in the competition, but the children wanted to know who is staying and who is leaving. With the back and forth decision making. 3 out of 4 judges pick Alondra.

Next week, 12 more acts take to the stage and the spot on the semi-finals to perform. The winners for this round will perform for the semi-finals and they have to do better. No slacking, by the way, can they bring back Craig and Micheline? Micheline is cute.

For America you have to do your job, vote for your favorite for they can stay in the competition.

Saturday Night Live turns 40

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

So if you were watching Saturday Night Live, on a Sunday night it was a great show to watch. It all started when it premiered on NBC on October 11, 1975, the first host was George Carlin, comedian and actor.  It was known as NBC’s Saturday Night and later it became Saturday Night Live.  It was a variety show created by Lorne Michaels and develop by Dick Ebersol.

The show’s comedy sketches, which parody contemporary culture and politics, are performed by a large and varying cast of repertory and newer cast members. Each episode is hosted by a celebrity guest (who usually delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast) and features performances by a musical guest. An episode normally begins with a cold open sketch that ends with someone breaking character and proclaiming, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!,” beginning the show proper.

This year was the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Live and the past guest and celebrities came and celebrate memorable sketch they like and live in front of the audience.

What you missed, they were cancel

People are not watching television shows anymore. Why? Maybe the shows are getting bored, especially the plot lines or episodes every week. Especially around the eight o clock hour and the rest of the hours, that goes up to eleven o clock in the evening and then we go to sleep.  The shows and their plot lines have to be intriguing with story and character of the shows.

When critics watch these shows and they think we should watch these shows, we may watch the first episode or pilot show of the new season. We may like it, but it all comes what plot lines for every episodes and the actors in the show that we like to see in our living room every night. And do we have to time to watch it?  Reality shows are great to watch. How about scripted shows?

Here are some of the shows that will end soon this year and never coming back, because they were, cancel because of low ratings of TV viewers. Or they never seen these shows, until now.

State of Affairs – NBC

This political drama from NBC sees Katherine Heigl playing a CIA analyst who advises the first female African American president (played by Alfre Woodard) on matters involving national security. This show was getting low ratings and it will be cancel by NBC soon. Heigl’s star power has certainly faded in recent years and this series wasn’t what she needed to get back on top. State of Affairs got mixed reviews from critics. “The writing does no one any favors, failing even to make the most of Alfre Woodard as president,” said a source. With poor ratings and reviews, it doesn’t look like there’s much incentive to keep this one around.

Hart of Dixie

The CW has been on a winning streak recently with its first ever Golden Globe win for Jane the Virgin, as well as top ratings for its DC Comics-based shows The Flash and Arrow. The one weak point in the network’s lineup seems to be this Rachel Bilson-star, in which she plays a New York doctor who decides to take a job at a practice in Alabama after going through some personal turmoil. Heart of Dixie will end after four seasons on the CW.

If the Jane the Virgin can hold up, since they won for best TV show from the Golden Globe awards a month ago and the actress too. Maybe a better time slot and the viewers can watch this show and see why this show is funnier and intriguing to watch.

CSI

CSI will be cancel from CBS, they don’t have to investigated what happened to this show after 15 season on CBS. The spin offs are better and getting good reviews. Crime is crime and they solve numerous mysteries death by using CSI techniques. I really like one episode, when they killed off Justin Bieber. He was a fan of the show. Look how Justin Bieber rose to fame and downhill it came.

Stalker

CBS’s attempt at a new crime procedural failed with this mess of a show about LAPD’s Threat Assessment Unit and victims of stalking. They should have taken real life cases of stalkers crimes and it could have been a hit and mention in the beginning of the show that these episodes are real cases and use actors to represent the story. But the show itself was misguided of being not stalked by viewers to watch this show. It will be cancel soon.

Resurrection

This ABC drama about a group of people who have to deal with the fact that a bunch of their family members suddenly rise from the dead and rejoin life as if nothing happened probably would have been more successful if it was the zombie show it kind of sounds like it should be. It’s a zombie show. The show is based on the Jason Mott novel “The Returned”, which also spawned a French series that critics say is miles better than the US version.  “You should watch Les Revenants; it aired on Sundance and is now on Netflix, and it’s really good. Resurrection is not as good. It’s a little too sunny, a little too perky about people coming back from the dead,” said Vulture. This show is not be resurrected. Eat brains.

Forever

ABC drama about an immortal medical examiner is going to be cancelled. While the examiner’s 200 years on Earth give him insights into his profession that no one else has as he solves murders in New York City, it seems like this show just wasn’t destined to live forever. The last remaining nine episodes is being shown and it is not Forever.

Revenge

At the end of the third season, the show had been teasing all along finally occurred and now the show is attempting to figure out how to continue without that tension. “Going forward, though, Revenge is going to have to determine what the show looks like without Emily going after the Graysons at every turn, because as shown in this episode, they haven’t quite figured that part out yet,” It seems likely the show won’t get the chance to work that stuff out. So will she get revenge of the low ratings and viewership of the TV audience.
