Ever since The Shinning came out in the 1980s, people always wanted to know what would happen to Danny when he saw twins’ girls that scared him and gave him nightmares. When he wakes up, his pillows were gone.
This movie and the novel will either give you nightmares, nor you might hear some creaking noise in the middle of the night. I hope you don’t have any monsters underneath your bed or your closet. If I was you, sleep in a hotel – not the Stanley Hotel or the Bates Motel – the Holiday Inn or Motel 6, they will leave the light on for you, I guess.
The first movie The Shinning did gave me nightmares, Stephen King knows how to write good screenplays and novels. He had four movies that came out this year, and they were: Pet Cemetery, It Chapter 2 (continuation and final), In Tall Grass (Netflix), and Doctor Sleep (November 2019). Many more of Stephen King’s novels and stories will come soon to a theater near you.
The story is Danny Torrance is still traumatized by the events that happened in 1980 by staying at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. Having nightmares that long can cause mental behavior throughout a long time.
Eventually, he meets Abra, a teen who shares who have an extrasensory power that she can “Shine,” the shine power is related to telepathy and clairvoyance. She can communicate with others by using the mind and see things that happened in the past or will happen in the future.
Danny and Abra much battle the demons called the True Knot, whose members try to feed off The Shine of innocents to become immortal.
In other words, another classic tale of Stephen King horror and the supernatural world, which is technically true in a certain way. But great storytelling.
