Rouge One: Star Wars Story
It’s the best Star Wars movie, but it takes place between The Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope. Carrie fisher was 19 when she starred in George Lucas Star Wars. The story was the rebel alliance makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up an epic saga to follow. Carrie Fisher had just completed the next Star Wars movie now they have to reshoot and redo some scenes. It was her last film. Will they use digital CGI characters to complete it, like the one they use in Rouge One?
Singing in the Rain (1952)
I know this movie did not come out in 2016, but it was my family favorite movie and especially mom’s favorite who passed away in February 2016. Now Debbie Reynolds passed away and so did her daughter Carrie Fisher. It’s sad to see mother and daughter gone too soon. Now there are happy together. This movie is incredible to watch, the singing and dancing, it just makes you happy and sing-a-long. I don’t know how many times I have seen it this week. It’s One of the best movies throughout the century of filmmaking. I bet my mom and Debbie Reynolds are having a good time.
Captain America: Civil War
With many people fearing the actions of superheroes, the government decides to push for the Hero Registration Act, a law that limits a hero’s actions. This results in a division in The Avengers. Iron Man stands with this Act, claiming that their actions must be kept in check otherwise cities will continue to be destroyed, but Captain America feels that saving the world is daring enough and that they cannot rely on the government to protect the world. This escalates into an all-out war between Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Panther, Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and Spider-Man) and Team Captain America (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant Man) while a new villain emerges. Two teams in a battle. Awesome!
Dead Pool
Did you know Deadpool won for best comedy for Critics Choice Awards? And Ryan Reynolds too for Best Actor in a Comedy? Wow. The movie was that funny. The wise-cracking superhero. The story was a fast-talking mercenary with a morbid sense of humor is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers and a quest for revenge. And he sings Careless Whisper by George Michael, hilarious.
The Jungle Book
Voice actors of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken, Garry Shandling (1949 – 2016), and other great voice actors. Bring this classic tale to life, with the only human actor on set Neel Sethi.
The director Jon Favreau and his visionary of using CGI animals to life, if he had to use real animals the actors would be dead. The visual effects were incredible and it should win an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
The Edge of Seventeen
Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson).
Hailee Steinfeld is fantastic in this movie and a fantastic performer. She’s a nominated for Golden Globe for this movie if she wins and she could be the youngest to win the Oscars. Go girl!
Conjuring 2: Enfield Poltergeist
This movie was the scariest to watch, based on a true story of Enfield case by Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators, they have witnessed paranormal activity in 1977 and they have interviewed the devil. Scary. What was that noise behind you? If you watch the movie on DVD alone one night. Your house can scare you and creep you out! Did you hear something? That’s scary!
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice
It’s about time they put Wonder Woman with the guys. First Batman and Superman were fighting because Superman destroyed Wayne Enterprise building because of other supermen aliens wanted to take over the earth. But they bonded together, because of their mother was Martha, one was Kent and the other Wayne. Does Superman survive?
La La land
This movie was fantastic! Who would have known that musicals are coming back to the screen? We did have High School Musical 3(2008)? And Hairspray (2007).
The music is melodic but never simplistic; the lyrics are intelligent and intelligible; the script is funny, touching without ever resorting to sentimentality; the two leads are not only skillful but full of a kind of charm that I honestly thought had disappeared entirely from American movies: but here we have Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone just oozing it. She’s hot!
“La La Land,” the most nominated film of the evening, took home eight awards, the most of the night, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay (a tie) for Damien Chazelle, Best Cinematography for Linus Sandgren, Best Production Design for David Wasco and Sandy Reynolds-Wasco, Best Editing for Tom Cross, Best Song, and Best Score for Justin Hurwitz, for Critics Choice Awards earlier this month in December.
