Moonlight La La Land

Did you watch the Oscars the other night? OMG what happened?

What happened was Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, better known as Bonnie and Clyde from the 1967 movie was supposed to announce the best picture for 2017. Apparently, they got the wrong envelope, he did pause for the moment, he could have paused for more asked for the right envelope and presented the right winner, but she blurted out “La La Land”, which did not win it was “Moonlight,” I prefer La La land.

La La Land won 6 out of 14 Oscars, and they were best director, actress, production design, cinematography, score and original song.

Moonlight, tells a story of a black man by following him through the episodes: as a young boy, as a teenager, and as an adult.

And La La Land tells a story Mia who is a struggling actress and wanted to be noticed while Sebastian is a struggling Jazz singer and wanted to be noticed too, And it was a musical dance drama,

The Visual Effects went to The Jungle Book, which beat out Star Wars: The Rogue One, in which they recreated dead actors and made Carrie Fisher younger again. I agree in which it went to the Jungle Book, the visual effects of the Jungle Book were incredible and very creative and complexity of creating animals to interact with humans and making them talk with CGI. Jon Favreau who directed Iron Man directed The Jungle Book.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone won for best performance by an actress in a leading role for La La Land. Ryan Gosling did not win for leading man it was Casey Affleck for Manchester By the Sea, produced by Matt Damon.

Jimmy Kimmel was a great host for the show, I hope he comes back.  Jimmy Kimmel surprises a group of tourist who was on the tour bus to see celebrities houses, but it took a detour to the Oscar ceremony and saw real celebrities, and took a selfie with them.

When Matt Damon was presenting with Ben Affleck, the music was getting louder and louder and find out that Jimmy Kimmel was conducting the orchestra.

In the Memoriam section, they put the wrong picture with the deceased name, in other words, she’s alive. The lady on the left is alive.

The two ladies worked together on 1993’s The Piano, alongside director Jane Campion. Pictured (from left): Jan Chapman, Janet Patterson (the Center, she died), Jane Campion.

Ballons of food.jpg

Since the actors were getting hungry, Jimmy drop balloons of food, arranging from candies to donuts.

The Winners

Best Movies of 2016

Rouge One: Star Wars Story

It’s the best Star Wars movie, but it takes place between The Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope.  Carrie fisher was 19 when she starred in George Lucas Star Wars.  The story was the rebel alliance makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up an epic saga to follow. Carrie Fisher had just completed the next Star Wars movie now they have to reshoot and redo some scenes. It was her last film. Will they use digital CGI characters to complete it, like the one they use in Rouge One?

Singing in the Rain (1952)

I know this movie did not come out in 2016, but it was my family favorite movie and especially mom’s favorite who passed away in February 2016. Now Debbie Reynolds passed away and so did her daughter Carrie Fisher. It’s sad to see mother and daughter gone too soon. Now there are happy together. This movie is incredible to watch, the singing and dancing, it just makes you happy and sing-a-long. I don’t know how many times I have seen it this week. It’s One of the best movies throughout the century of filmmaking. I bet my mom and Debbie Reynolds are having a good time.

Captain America: Civil War

With many people fearing the actions of superheroes, the government decides to push for the Hero Registration Act, a law that limits a hero’s actions. This results in a division in The Avengers. Iron Man stands with this Act, claiming that their actions must be kept in check otherwise cities will continue to be destroyed, but Captain America feels that saving the world is daring enough and that they cannot rely on the government to protect the world. This escalates into an all-out war between Team Iron Man (Iron Man, Black Panther, Vision, Black Widow, War Machine, and Spider-Man) and Team Captain America (Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, and Ant Man) while a new villain emerges. Two teams in a battle. Awesome!

Dead Pool

Did you know Deadpool won for best comedy for Critics Choice Awards? And Ryan Reynolds too for Best Actor in a Comedy? Wow. The movie was that funny. The wise-cracking superhero.  The story was a fast-talking mercenary with a morbid sense of humor is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers and a quest for revenge. And he sings Careless Whisper by George Michael, hilarious.

The Jungle Book

Voice actors of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken, Garry Shandling (1949 – 2016), and other great voice actors. Bring this classic tale to life, with the only human actor on set Neel Sethi.

The director Jon Favreau and his visionary of using CGI animals to life, if he had to use real animals the actors would be dead. The visual effects were incredible and it should win an Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

The Edge of Seventeen

Everyone knows that growing up is hard, and life is no easier for high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson).

Hailee Steinfeld is fantastic in this movie and a fantastic performer. She’s a nominated for Golden Globe for this movie if she wins and she could be the youngest to win the Oscars.  Go girl!

Conjuring 2: Enfield Poltergeist

This movie was the scariest to watch, based on a true story of Enfield case by Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators, they have witnessed paranormal activity in 1977 and they have interviewed the devil. Scary. What was that noise behind you? If you watch the movie on DVD alone one night.  Your house can scare you and creep you out! Did you hear something? That’s scary!

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

It’s about time they put Wonder Woman with the guys. First Batman and Superman were fighting because Superman destroyed Wayne Enterprise building because of other supermen aliens wanted to take over the earth. But they bonded together, because of their mother was Martha, one was Kent and the other Wayne. Does Superman survive?

La La land

This movie was fantastic! Who would have known that musicals are coming back to the screen? We did have High School Musical 3(2008)? And Hairspray (2007).

The music is melodic but never simplistic; the lyrics are intelligent and intelligible; the script is funny, touching without ever resorting to sentimentality; the two leads are not only skillful but full of a kind of charm that I honestly thought had disappeared entirely from American movies: but here we have Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone just oozing it. She’s hot!

“La La Land,” the most nominated film of the evening, took home eight awards, the most of the night, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay (a tie) for Damien Chazelle, Best Cinematography for Linus Sandgren, Best Production Design for David Wasco and Sandy Reynolds-Wasco, Best Editing for Tom Cross, Best Song, and Best Score for Justin Hurwitz, for Critics Choice Awards earlier this month in December.

Finding Dory

The friendly but forgetful blue tang fish begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family.Ellen DeGeneres plays Dory, about a fish who has short Term memory loss and it’s hilarious. Who seek out to find her family in this undersea adventure.

Kids Choice Awards 2015

Tonight was the 28th Kids Choice Awards and Kids picked who they like. Some choices were good and some choices were excellent.  The host for the evening was Nick Jonas and he was great. His jokes were not great he should a professional comedy writer, better yet. He got slimed. Real good. They should try different color slimed next time. Stars from TV, film, and music are set to make an appearance on the orange carpet, and to see who takes home the blimp statues and get slimed.

 Nick Jonas TCA Slimed

The first award at the beginning of the hour was the favorite family TV show. The winner was Modern Family and they got slimed. Yes!

modern-family-Slimed TCA

Some of them avoided being slimed, the producers were smart, don’t slimed good looking people.

Here are the highlights for the show:

For the favorite reality show, the teens picked Dance Mom? Abby Lee Miller and Abby Lee Dance Company? Why the teens picked her?  Abby Lee Miller humiliates and embarrassed the parents and their children, that’s not teaching. It’s torture. Still the children become better dancers.  I rather have Simon Cowel to host a dance show. At least Simon has a heart and he helps. They should have slimed her, then I would be happy.

Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson performed ‘Trouble ‘ at the Kids Choice Awards. They looked happy performing together.

The Amazing Spider Man

When I was in high school, I always wanted to be cool like a hero and get the girl whom I desire to like – who wants to be undead and be a vampire that’s no hero. What superpower would I have to be a vampire?  Super speed? And turn into a bat? And  Become Batman? Peter Parker was cool and the name too.

The story and the plot of The Amazing Spiderman were great if people don’t understand the story and plot. Go to high school and figure it out, your story and your life in high school should be the same as Peter Parker, except for being bitten by a spider – your room needs to be clean up.

The story is driven by Peter Parker desire to unravel the mystery surrounding his parents’ deaths when he was a child, which leads him to track down his father’s old colleague Dr. Curtis Connors (Rhys Ifans), a genetic researcher which makes breakthrough thanks to Peter’s help that ends up transforming him into a giant villain Lizard. This was never mentioned in the first movie, only he stayed with his grand parents.

His girlfriend was Gwen Stacy a brainy beauty which works for Dr. Curtis Connors is hiring interns, and Peter Parker sneaks in the building to meet Dr. Curtis Connors if he knows anything  about the death of his  parents.  However, he was caught by Gwen, and she thought he was following her.

If people are confused by Emma Stone in the movie, it’s because the writers of the movie want to bring a new story in their relationship (Peter Parker), and they could not use Mary Jane’s character because Mary Jane married Peter Parker in Spiderman 3. So the writers start fresh back in high school. New plot, new twist and sequels. I hope the sequels or prequels will be better.

Andrew Russell Garfield is an American-English actor. He began his career in British television, appearing in the teen drama Sugar Rush in 2005, and gained further exposure appearing in the BBCs ‘Doctor, Who’ in 2007. His early film roles include ‘Lions for Lambs,’, ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’, and the Channel 4 dramas ‘Boy A’, which garnered him the 2008 BAFTA Television Award for Best Actor.Garfieldachieved wider recognition and critical acclaim for his role as Eduardo Saverin in the 2010 film ‘The Social Network’, a role which earned him Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations.Garfieldis a dual citizen of theUnited Statesand theUnited Kingdom. He plays the title character in the 2012 superhero film The Amazing Spider-Man, a reboot of the Spider-Man film series.

To get all those moves in the film, he was sewn in the suits and half naked in the costume. When he has to go to the bathroom, he had to open his fly. Get it. Spiderman and the fly.

Emma Stone was a cast member of the TV series ‘Drive’, and made her feature-film  debut in the comedy ‘Superbad’ (2007). She appeared in ‘The House Bunny’(2008) and ‘Ghosts of Girlfriends Past’ (2009). She then starred in the horror-comedy ‘Zombieland’ and the indie comedy ‘Paper Man’ in 2009. In 2010, Stone voiced the character ‘Mazie’ in Marmaduke, and starred in the high school comedy ‘Easy A’, which earned her a nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. In 2011, she starred in the films ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love.’ and ‘The Help’, both of which were well received by critics and commercial successes. Stone plays Gwen Stacy in the Amazing Spider-Man film, a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise and the sequels will come.

Stay after the movie to see a preview of the next villain.

Overall, the movie is exciting, and it looks great in 3D. The action comes right at you. I had to duck twice. So please go out and see a blockbuster movie of the summer:  ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ playing at your theater near you. The visual aspect is incredible to see. Words cannot  describe it.

The 2012 Oscars Goes to

Morgan Freeman starts the show with a short introductory speech about history of Hollywood and why we love going to the movie theater. Mostly we transport our selves to different places, like the make believe world of Avatar, or the last film of the Harry Potter books. It is magnificent to see how the writers and directors put a scene together and the visual interpretation what was written to the big screen.

Billy Crystal starts his opening scene traipsing through the Best Picture nominees, a quick monologue and then a brilliant song and dance routine.  In case you didn’t think this Oscars would be dignified, Billy Crystal is definitely getting some laughs in the press room, especially that Bieber bit. It was funny to see it. He knows how to entertain us.

When would Sacha Baron Cohen ever stop pulling pranks, George Clooney is better pulling of pranks on his cast mates, but for Sacha, he get’s into trouble just to promote his movie? Do what everybody does when promoting a movie, go on a talk show and talk about the movie.  He actually poured pancakes mix ashes from North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il on to Ryan Seacrest. I did not know that he liked pancakes, and I did not know when we died, we look like a pancake mix.

Emma Stone had a big moment last night when she presented at the 2012 Oscars with Ben Stiller. The skit, Emma talking excitedly — at length — about how it was her first time presenting, with Ben playfully shutting her down. Here’s one of their exchanges:

“You don’t want to be the presenter who tries too hard.” Ben Said

“What do you mean, like a guy who would dress in full Avatar makeup or something? I’m surprised you’re not in a Planet of the Apes outfit.” Emma said sarcastically.

And she wanted to hug an actor. I was there. I wanted to hug her. Well, I wasn’t, but I wished I was there.  The skit was a little bit corny, and she really pulled it off, and it got to us thinking about our other favorite awkwardly adorable onscreen Emma Stone moments.

Jennifer Lopez stepped out in her trademark plunging gown in a Zuhair Murad dress which hugged her curvy figure to perfection.  However, Jennifer Lopez may not get an Oscar for the revealing dress she had on and the costume designer award. But her out fit did. Are you tilting your head to one side? To see what she had on. She looked gorgeous.

Jim Rash posing like Angelina Jolie was a highlight of Oscar night. But it was far from the only Jolie-related subject to be buzzed-about Sunday and today.  The outfit she was wearing was black velvet Versace Atelier gown, strapless and striking. Her right leg appears and said thank you.
