If you haven’t seen it, and you think it’s ridiculous, and probably you will see it Sharknado 5 on the Syfy channel. One thing it is a parody of one of the adventure movies from the 1980’s, well one of them. And they have very witty, clever lines and word play (more like Easter eggs in the movie or reference either to the actors or other movies.) And we were laughing at them. It was meant to do that. Make us laugh at them. We were their laugh track for the movie.
The main stars are Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. The story of the movie is quite simply Fin and April travel around the globe to save their son who’s trapped inside a Sharknado vertex porthole. April got eaten by a shark and turned into an indestructible android with nuclear powers.
This time the movie was much better than last year Sharknado 4: The Fourth Awakens. Crazy title, but the plot was when Fin and his family and the cosmos have been blissfully Sharknado-free in the five years (in the future) since the most recent attack, but now sharks and tornados are being whipped up in unexpected ways and places. You must see it.
The CGI was quite good too with the sharks and the tornado not realistic but appropriate realistic for the movie. Will it get nominated for an Emmy? I guess.
Anyway, the cameos are one of the who’s who in the entertainment business and they were:
Jena Sims as NATO Delegate Lee
Cassandra Scerbo as Nova Clarke
Masiela Lusha as Gemini
Olivia Newton-John
Dan Fogler
Charo as Queen of England
Lucy Pinder as Swedish Ambassador
Cody Linley as Matt Shepard
Gilbert Gottfried
Chris Kattan as British Prime Minister
Katie Price as Prime Minister’s PA
Caprice Bourret as Polaris
David Naughton as David Naughton
Margaret Cho
Chloe Lattanzi as Electra
Fabio as The Pope
Kathie Lee Gifford as Herself
Hoda Kotb as Herself
Al Roker as Himself
Bret Michaels
Tony Hawk
Greg Louganis
Russell Hodgkinson as Steven Beck
Ross Mullan as Dr. Wobbegon
Abby Lee Miller
Clay Aiken
And they were hysterical to watch, either they were eaten by sharks or if the sharks spit them out! It was funny.
Rent it if you get a chance. Or Netflix and chill for a date night in front of your TV, and watch it with the kids. They might like it too. The encore for Sharknado 5 is on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
