Sharknado 5: Global Swarming

Sharknado MP

If you haven’t seen it, and you think it’s ridiculous, and probably you will see it Sharknado 5 on the Syfy channel. One thing it is a parody of one of the adventure movies from the 1980’s, well one of them. And they have very witty, clever lines and word play (more like Easter eggs in the movie or reference either to the actors or other movies.) And we were laughing at them. It was meant to do that. Make us laugh at them. We were their laugh track for the movie.

The main stars are Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. The story of the movie is quite simply Fin and April travel around the globe to save their son who’s trapped inside a Sharknado vertex porthole. April got eaten by a shark and turned into an indestructible android with nuclear powers.

This time the movie was much better than last year Sharknado 4: The Fourth Awakens. Crazy title, but the plot was when Fin and his family and the cosmos have been blissfully Sharknado-free in the five years (in the future) since the most recent attack, but now sharks and tornados are being whipped up in unexpected ways and places. You must see it.

The CGI was quite good too with the sharks and the tornado not realistic but appropriate realistic for the movie. Will it get nominated for an Emmy? I guess.

Anyway, the cameos are one of the who’s who in the entertainment business and they were:

Jena Sims as NATO Delegate Lee

Cassandra Scerbo as Nova Clarke

Masiela Lusha as Gemini

Olivia Newton-John

Dan Fogler

Charo as Queen of England

Lucy Pinder as Swedish Ambassador

Cody Linley as Matt Shepard

Gilbert Gottfried

Chris Kattan as British Prime Minister

Katie Price as Prime Minister’s PA

Caprice Bourret as Polaris

David Naughton as David Naughton

Margaret Cho

Chloe Lattanzi as Electra

Fabio as The Pope

Kathie Lee Gifford as Herself

Hoda Kotb as Herself

Al Roker as Himself

Bret Michaels

Tony Hawk

Greg Louganis

Russell Hodgkinson as Steven Beck

Ross Mullan as Dr. Wobbegon

Abby Lee Miller

Clay Aiken

And they were hysterical to watch, either they were eaten by sharks or if the sharks spit them out! It was funny.

Rent it if you get a chance. Or Netflix and chill for a date night in front of your TV, and watch it with the kids. They might like it too.  The encore for Sharknado 5 is on Saturday, August 12,  2017.

Sharknado 2: The Second One

Whenever a storm passes by, the first thing we are going to say. “There’s a tornado coming and it is full of sharks!”

Holly Sharks!!!

Hey right, like that’s going to happen.

Anyway, the opening scene of Sharknado was clever writing by Thunder Levin, it reminded me of a Twilight episode with William Shatner. The writing was ridiculous and funny with a good plot. The plot was a freaky weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado again in the Big Apple and taking a bite of the iconic sites. Only Fin and April can save the day – again!

Also, they had a lot of cameos and product placement in the movie. Cameos such as

  • Will and Anne Wheaton Santa Mira Flight 209 airline passenger he was eaten by shark
  • Robert Hays as Captain Robert “Bob” Wilson – Santa Mira Flight 209 pilot
  • Kelly Osbourne as Flight Attendant
  • Judah Friedlander as Brian
  • Andy Dick as NYPD officer
  • Judd Hirsch as Ben the cab driver
  • Billy Ray Cyrus as Doctor Quint
  • Kurt Angle as FDNY fire chief
  • Benjy Bronk as Homeless Guy
  • Jared Fogle as a man eating a sub on the subway
  • Downtown Julie Brown as an operating room nurse
  • Sandra Denton as Polly
  • Tiffany Shepis as Chrissy
  • Perez Hilton
  • Richard Kind as Harland “The Blaster” McGuinness
  • Biz Markie as Vinnie – a pizza chef; baked a shark!
  • Kelly Ripa as herself
  • Michael Strahan as himself
  • Michael Gelman as himself got eaten by shark
  • Daymond John as himself, from Shark Tank got attack by a shark.
  • Stephanie Abrams as herself
  • Rachel True as First Officer Jonni Valentine – Santa Mira Flight 209

Staring

Tara Reid as April Wexler

Ian Ziering as Finley “Finn” Shepard

Kari Wuhrer as Ellen Brody

Dante Palminteri as Vaughn Brody

Courtney Baxter as Mora Brody

Mark McGrath as Martin Brody

Vivica A. Fox as Skye

Al Roker as himself

Matt Lauer as himself

Overall, this movie was fun to watch, seeing all the cameos most of them were eaten, but al Roker and Matt laurer really did a great as actors, they played themselves as news reporter and weather reporter and they were believable. I really believe sharks were out there. It was a silly movie with big potentially as a low budget movie. They should have the third one on the big screen.
