The Power Ranger was epic. Do you know why they decided to open they movie on March 24, 2017? It’s an epic date to remember? Do you remember five teenagers being locked up doing detention, instead of the library they were in the basement of the school?
Do you remember the Breakfast Club? The plot line was March 24, 1984, but the movie released was in February 1985, they are both similar.
Anyway, this was the rebirth and reboot of the Power Ranger, the first group of the Power Rangers were stripped of their power and they gone missing.
The team consists of Jason Scott (Dacre Montgomery), the future Red Ranger, a juvenile delinquent with a barely disguised noble streak. Kimberly Hart (Naomi Scott), aka Pink Ranger, a depressive who’s in detention for texting an embarrassing private photo of a classmate and she punched a guy. Billy Cranston (RJ Cyler), aka Blue Ranger, who’s got a spectrum disorder in this version and a black nerd. Becky G as Trini, the Yellow Ranger plays a gay character, but doesn’t express it, but forced to pee in the cup when she told her family that she was abducted by aliens and they gave her superpowers. And Ludi Lin as Zack, the Black Ranger, who is Asian, which is great.
The teens were trained by Zordon (Bryan Cranston), and the robot assistant (Bill Hader as Alpha 5) and the iconic laughter was seen and heard.
Zordon wants them to defend the Earth against his nemesis, Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks) and she was a former Power Ranger herself too. Rita has a gigantic golden warrior called Golda!- That’s not good.
There’s a plot about the Rangers trying to protect a crystal hidden inside a Krispy Kreme donut shop – so if they get hungry, they would eat the donuts and find the crystal in the sprinkles of the donut. A weird place to hide a crystal in a donut shop!
There was a great battle scene between the power rangers and Golda, and it was that close when they fell in the pit and morphed into a gigantic power ranger and the epic battle scene!
Remember this movie is PG-13 due to violence and language in the movie, it is not the PG version of the TV show. It is entirely different and dark. You are watching way too much of Riverdale on the CW, by the way, it is a great show, you should watch it. I like it this way. So parents, even though you grew up watching the TV series and your children are watching it, make sure you have insurance for the house. We don’t want children to imitated violence in the home. Let your kids take karate lesson at the Y.
Go see it !!
