short-round

Do you remember Short Round? From the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the little kid.  He was a child actor at the age of 12.

The actor name is Jonathan Luke Ke Huy Quan. When filming the movie with Steven Spielberg, he shorten – that’s right – he shorten his name to Ke Huy, which was credited in the film.

His brother was the one actually auditioning for the role of Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). Jonathan just followed his brother along, but the casting people decided to pick him instead.

gonnies

Do you remember the scene in The Goonies (1985), where rocks are falling from the cave ceiling, he screams “Holy SH-I-T”, spelling the expletive rather than saying it? He did this because his mother made him promise not to use any bad language in the movie.

Anyway, he now goes by Jonathan, he is an American actor and he is stunt choreographer for the ethnic Chinese films.

He attended Mount Gleason Jr. High in Tujunga, California, and Alhambra High School in Alhambra, California. After high school, he graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. He later attended the University of Manchester, in the United Kingdom. He is fluent in Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.

Having studied Taekwondo under Philip Tan on the set of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he later trained under Tao-liang Tan. Jonathan is a huge Jackie Chan fan. He worked as a stunt choreographer for X-Men and The One as the assistant of renowned Hong Kong fight choreographer Corey Yuen.
