As you may know “Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)” or “Birdman”, that’s what I would called it, won for Best Picture.  Other nominees in this category were “Boyhood”, “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “The Imitation Game”, “Selma”, “The Theory of Everything”, “Whiplash” and “Fifty Shades of Grey”. What?  Probably for best use of sex toys in the movie.

Birdman won three awards, Best Director went to Alejandro G. Inarritu, Best Cinematography went to Emmanuel Lubezki, he won last year for “Gravity” in 2014. I have got to watch this when it comes on DVD and see the photo techniques that he used and apply it for taking pictures. I am photographer and like the cinematography in the movies.  And it won for best original screenplay. As long, it won for technical stuff. Working behind the scenes is always important in the film making process.  Got to get it right, the visionary aspect of what to see and how to put it together.

Eddie Redmayne won for best actor for “The Theory Everything” bio film of Stephen hawking. He is best known as Jupiter Ascending 2015.  On television, he was in the Doctors (2003). Les Misérables (2012).

Julianne Moore won for Best Actress for Still Alice. She is best known as Sarah Palin in the Game Change (2012) and received the Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award, all for Best Actress. The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997). From 1985 to 1988, she was a regular in the soap opera As the World Turns, earning a Daytime Emmy for her performance.  Her first screen role came in 1984, in an episode of the soap opera The Edge of Night.

Patricia Arquette won for Boyhood for Best Supporting Actress. You may remember her in NBC’s Medium, she played fictionalized version of psychic medium Allison DuBios. In other words, she saw dead people. She won awards for her role. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2005, as well as nominations for a Golden Globe in 2005, 2006 and 2007. While making Boyhood.

J.K. Simmons won for best supporting actor for Whiplash. You may recognize him in the Farmer Insurance ads. Also the short live and cancel show of NBC’s Growing Up Fisher, he played a blind lawyer. I like that show. Watch on Netflix. He was in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. He played Jonah Jameson, newspaper chief editor. And he also does the voice for the animated series in the Ultimate Spider-Man, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Avengers Assemble.

“Birdman” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” tied for the most nominations. The Grand Budapest Hotel took home Best Original Score for Alexandre Desplat, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hair styling.

Poland’s “Ida” won Best Foreign Language Film, the first film from Poland to ever win the Oscar in the category. “Big Hero 6” won Best Animated Film. Laura Poitras’ “Citizenfour” won Best Documentary.
