What a way to start a show all the contestants sang “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragon by singing and dancing through the corridors of the studio like follow the leader with each contestant singing their part of the song, which was a popular song they had sang during the audition of American Idol, like a whimsical musical number.

Kristen O’Connor went home last night, she sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Beautiful Disaster” and it wasn’t that good, it wasn’t a disaster but it was good. However, the second song she sang was “Turning Tables” by Adele was much better and more control. Unfortunately, the judges could not save her and so she was eliminated. The judges thought her song was not in tune and did not connect to the audience.  I wonder do these contestants hear themselves singing with an earpiece to get the right tone and voice control.  She will go home to Sebastian, Florida.

Candice Glover sang “Cried” and “Same Kinda Man.” Her voice was incredible. Did she slim down a little? She looked gorgeous with sparkles. I need to get some sparkles for myself too.

Then there was Jake Bugg, Keith Urban’s chosen “tastemaker” special guest. This guy has a very unique and consistent voice and his own album at age 17. The season 13 hopefuls watched him from the couches, possibly thinking “Huh. Why doesn’t this lucky bastard have to emote?” Well, because that lucky bastard isn’t competing to connect on camera. Take a lesson contestant. He went with the right sources and he did it good. He has people skills.
