The village in the movie “The Hunger Games” is being auction of by Joe Maddalena in Profile in History.
The 72-acre village was used as the filming location of many scenes of the 2012 film “The Hunger Games” which was itself filmed entirely on location inNorth Carolina. Henry River Mill village was the site of filming for the movie film production Artemis, which is the working title for the movie based upon the novel “The Hunger Games.” The novel is part of a trilogy of books from author Suzanne Collins that revolves around North America building itself after the collapse of society.
Even the famous bakery site, where Katniss met Peeta, the letter “P” was missing in pastries. It was vandalized, probably someone thought since it was a piece of movie memorable they could auction of the “P” and make money out of it.
Also in Albemarle,NC a store owner bought a lot of movies props of the Hunger Games, and he has in storage. Someone left the bow and arrow that Katniss used during the film.
“It was unbelievable,” Maddalena reported to the news reporter in the Hickory Daily Record. “Hundreds of people were coming to this place from all over the world every day because they wanted a piece of The Hunger Games.”
Maddalena, who envisions the town’s potential as a Hunger Games-themed tourist attraction, hosts a televised tour of the 72-acre “District 12″ property on his Hollywood Treasure show airing Tuesday at 10 p.m./9 p.m. Central on Syfy. Following the telecast, bids will be accepted through July 31 on Maddalena’s Profiles in History website.
