Ninetieth Oscars: The Shape of Ebbing Missouri

Jimmy K

Did you watch the Ninetieth Oscar on Sunday night? The big winner was Shape of Water winning four awards which include Best Picture, Director, Production Design and best score.

Jimmy Kimmel was the perfect host. Unfortunately, the ratings were down, not because of Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the correct best picture with big fonts on the card. Will they come back again for the third time? Who knows?

Jimmy Kimmel and his actor friends that included Armie Hammer, Mark Hamill, Lupita Nyong’o, Emily Blunt, Gal Gadot, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Margot Robbie left their seats in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles Sunday night to surprise the audience at the TCL Chinese Theatre, watching a preview of Wrinkle of Time coming out March 9, 2018, that was fun a surprise.

According to Deadline the highest ratings for the Oscars was back in 2014 when Ellen DeGeneres hosted. Will she do it again? Can she pull off surprise pranks as Jimmy Kimmel did?  Why do actors have to be hypocritical with the politics?

Sexual harassment is a big issue in the workplace and they waited for 10 to 20 years to tell?  And they ruin lives of other actors.

And women are not being recognized in the entertainment business. It’s a harsh world out there just to be recognized for what they do for a living. They sacrificed everything to tell a story just to be accepted. Even actors they worked so hard to study their craft of acting and end up with sexual harassment. It’s a tough job; nothing is easy these days. Actors have to be careful these days. It’s a new world out there.

Big winners such as Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell for leading actress and actor for Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri, which was filmed in Sylvia, North Carolina. Frances McDormand lost her Oscar award, she put a billboard sign and got it back. Apparently, some craze fans wanted a prize too.

Visual effects and Cinematography went to Blade Runner2049.

Kobey Bryant won for Best Animated Short Film for Dear Basketball with Glen Keane.

Allison Janney won an Oscar for best-supporting actress for I Tonya and a Golden Globe. Won two Emmys for CBS Mom. And four Emmys for West Wing and she likes rap music.

If you like awards shows like I do, It’s fun to see our favorites to win. Maybe people tune out awards show because they do not want to hear actors talk about politics. Awards show needs to be fun and entertaining. More like a three-ring circus.
