Daytime Emmy Awards 2013

Daytime Emmy awards was presented over the weekend  on Father’s day.  Whoever produced the show could do a little bit better. They should have kept in plain and simply way, like an ordinary award show. Look how the Oscar was presented, The Tony awards and the Primetime Emmy awards.

I hope the producers would not messed up the Primetime Emmy awards coming in the fall.

Probably it was the location, they held the Daytime Emmy awards in the Beverly Hills Hilton where numerous of actors of died there over a period of decades ago and the present.  It was the ghosts and the hauntings that haunt the place and that messed up the Daytime Emmy awards, plus the hotel has a lot of history.

The highlights of the Daytime Emmy awards:

Days of Our Lives won for Best Drama series beating out last year’s winner, ABC’s General Hospital, as well as CBS’ top-rated The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful and ABC’s One Life to Live.  Days of Our Lives won best daytime drama series in 1975.

Overall, B&B went home with the most awards, winning four, while Days, Y&R and GH tied with two apiece.

Since some of the soaps have gone to the internet how would they get nominated for Emmys?

George Lucas got his first Daytime Emmy for ‘The Clone Wars’ on the Cartoon Network, he was the executive producer of the show.  He was nominated twice for Primetime Emmys for Ewok-themed children’s series. Lucas also said it was only the second award he’s ever won, following on the heels of an NAACP Image Award for the movie Red Tails. I have seen Red Tails and it is magnificent produced.  It had the Stars Wars quality, but this movie ‘Red tails’ is good.

An embarrassing moment for The Talk cast who were about to announced the winner for best talk show/informative.  Aisha Tyler realized she had the wrong envelope, exclaiming, “Oh this is interesting, this winner is not in this category.” She noticed her show The Talk was not nominated. She was given the right envelope and Dr. Oz won for Best Informative show.  Dr. Oz is my doctor.

Another awkward award moment goes to Ricki Lake , who was named best talk show host for her show, but it was canceled, she wasn’t there to accepted.  Anderson Cooper got canceled too.  There are too many talk shows on TV who can watch all these shows, they should have their own network called “TV Talk network” (TTN).

The Ellen DeGeneres Show won its seventh Daytime Emmy for best talk show in entertainment.  I Love her show.

CBS Sunday Morning beat out NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America for best morning program honors. I used to watch this show when I was small on Sunday mornings. Best human interest stories ever. Charles Kuralt used to host the show and now it Charles Osgood. Very good show.

Julie Marie Berman, from ‘General Hospital’  was called as a winner for best supporting actress in a drama series. She played Lulu Spencer on GH until leaving the show earlier this year. Does this means she will get her job back as Lulu Spencer?   How would they write her back in the show?

Kristen Alderson, General Hospital, won best younger actress in a drama series and became emotional and overwhelmed onstage in her excitement. She thanked everyone from her fellow cast members and crew to “Jeannie, my tutor who got me through high school. I don’t know how she did it.” I need to be a tutor for the stars. Call me.

Another awkward award moment was Y&R star Jess Walton and Corbin Bernsen introduced the “In Memoriam” segment with a tribute to his mom, longtime Y&R star Jeanne Cooper. Until Corbin Bernsen used the S and F word live on TV.  No one was near the censor button?

Good Morning America’s Sam Champion joined HLN’s A.J. Hammer and Robin Meade to host the annual awards show. They should have done a song and dance number.  Sam Champion was doing the weather report on the screen.  Robin Meade was good, she could have let loose. She sang beautiful.  Stick to broad cast new reporting.
