Julie Benz is a Super Hero on No Ordinary Family

Julie Benz started her career in 1994 with a guest appearance on Married with Children on FOX. She was Bud Bundy’s dream girl, who wanted him to be his first. But  Bud Bundy was sprayed with some insecticide by Christina Applegate’s character and he grew boobs as a side effect. Julie Benz was his dream girl who showed up at his door and he had turned her down because of the side effects of the boobs, every guys nightmare, growing boobs, man boobs. The part wasn’t big, but it was a minor role, a guest appearance for the very first time as an actor, a working actor.

At 15, she was told by her acting coach that she would never make it in the business. “I remember the teacher telling me I should not even try acting,” say Benz “I still have the report card where she was like ‘You will never be an actor. You voice was horrible.’  That was the best thing that ever happened to me because I was like ‘I’ll show you.’ ” And she did.

Since then, she has been in a string of hit shows like from Buffy The Vampire Slayer as Darla and Angel, the spin off from Buffy. Desperate Housewife on ABC to Dexter on Showtime.  Movies such as Rambo (2008), Saw V(2008), Jawbreaker (1999). TV shows such CSI, Supernatural, Roswell (1999 – 2000).

Her new show No Ordinary Family on ABC is a hit. She plays a family with superpowers, her power is speed, more like the flash, running quickly through traffic and being on time for everything. I wish could have that power too. Her costars are Kay Panabaker, Jimmy Bennett and Michael Chiklis.

The show airs on ABC on Tuesday night at 8pm, if you haven’t seen it; either you can watch it or DVR the program. It’s a good family TV show.

Alison Brie as a Hairstylist?

Before Alison Brie made it success with NBC hit comedy “Community” playing Annie, this adorable star has a good track record.  She played Pete’s perky wife, Turdy on Mad Men.  But her first appearance was on Hannah Montana playing a hair stylist who cuts Jackson floppy hair (Jason Earles) bald.

“What I remember most was that when I went in for the audition, they were like, ‘You want to be really goofy and animated’ ” Brie says.  “So I started doing this big over the top long island accent, and they loved it.”  The experience showed her that it is important to go big or go home. “It was a good lesson for me to go into auditions with gusto and not be afraid to try crazy things. It taught me to be fearless.”
