Mary Green Hall at LVC

Lebanon Valley College has it’s ghostly haunts on campus, and you don’t have to pull any pranks on fellow students to prove it.  On tonight an episode from the Syfy hit series “School Spirits” two incidents happened near the college.

For the fifth consecutive year, Lebanon Valley College is ranked among the top three (#3) in the North in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category among “Best Regional Colleges” in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 edition of the book America’s Best Colleges. LVC has been among the top 10 colleges in its category for all eight years the list has been compiled. In addition, LVC moved up to #6 overall among the 74 comparable institutions in its regional category.

Also in 2011, The Princeton Review recognized LVC as “A Best in the Northeast” college and Forbes named LVC on its list of “America’s Top Colleges.”

However, being in the top schools for their best curriculums and majority for their activities, and the students love their school. It shares, a ghostly haunt in one of their dorms.

Dr. Kevin Pry, LVC associate professor of English, was instrumental in bringing this episode to fruition. He should have his student to do research on ghostly haunts on the campus. But he’s a ghost story enthusiast. Pry leads the annual “Ghost Tour” on campus each fall during Oktoberfest.

When taping of the episode last summer, Pry and more than a dozen other students, alumni and staff were interviewed for the haunting on the campus. A team of videographers and researchers from the Syfy descended upon the campus to learn about the paranormal experiences at LVC.

The SyFy researchers found two extraordinary stories that will scare the viewers off their seats while eating a hot marsh mellow in their mouths. One of them is a woman haunted by the victim of a deadly car crash that occurred near the college onOld Creek Road. And the two room mates pulling pranks in their dorm mates, but the spirit of a little girl who got hit by a train several years ago nearby the dorm haunts the dorm by giggle and playing the ball get’s the last laugh and giving the scare of the students who live there.

“Weird stuff happens,” said Dr. Lou Manza, chair and professor of psychology. Manza teaches a course in paranormal phenomena and science at LVC and researches why people believe in ghosts. Huge numbers of people have had some experience they cannot explain, he said in an interview with the LA Times. In the upcoming episode of “School Spirits,” Pry says more than 200 people have seen the “little girl in Mary Green Hall.”
